2019: Make #newyearnewme More Than Just a Hashtag This Year
As we go into February, we may be looking at the remnants of our New Year’s resolutions and wondering how it all went wrong. We went into 2019 full of hope and ambition but for some of us, we’ve hit a stumbling block.
It could be because we’re back at work or school and life has just bulldozed our carefully laid-out plans. However, this doesn’t have to be the end. Instead of sticking to resolutions for the year, why not use the start of 2019 to change your life permanently?
This could mean different things for different people, like finally finishing that degree or getting your dream job. For others, this could mean getting healthy and fit, which is what this blog will hopefully help you with.
Find Your Why
Why do want to take this healthy journey? The way you approach this lifestyle change will largely depend on your answer to this question.
Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to gain weight? Do you want to be fitter or stronger? Perhaps you’d like to be in the best shape possible before you enter the New Jersey Marathon. Determine your goal and then work towards it
You Are What You Eat
There’s this saying that summer bodies are made in winter. Whoever said that obviously didn’t experience the utter joy that could be had from a bowl of steaming mac and cheese while it’s snowing outside.
However, winter is also a good time to introduce some healthy meals to your diet without decreasing the comfort food level.
Let’s have a look at great healthy alternatives to some traditional dishes:
Arroz con Pollo
This is what comfort eating is all about. While mostly healthy, it would be a great idea to replace the white rice with delicious brown rice instead. Find that recipe here.
There’s not much better than having a bowl of hot soup on a cold winter’s day. Sopa Tarasca definitely delivers and the fact that it’s so easy to make doesn’t hurt. Take a look at a great recipe for this soup here.
Steak with Chimichurri Sauce
Sometimes, only a great cut of steak will do. Chimichurri sauce is a healthy and tasty alternative to smothering your meat in marinade. Here’s a great recipe for easy-to-make chimichurri sauce. Simply serve with your favorite grilled vegetables and dinner is sorted.
Eating healthily is a great way to lose or even maintain your weight but if you want to increase your fitness level, incorporate some exercise into your day.
There’s plenty to keep you busy in and around Rahway, New Jersey. In fact, if you have a look at one of our previous blogs, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice when it comes to enjoying outdoor activities.
However, our on-site gym here at Grand Meridia is the ideal solution if you’re looking to get fit without leaving the comfort of the apartment complex.
Stick to your plan no matter how much that mac and cheese is calling out to you. We believe that you can do it and know that you’ll create and achieve your own #newyearnewme goals this year. Let’s go!
